Contact us templates

How do we create a json template (page.contact.json), that we can assign to a page? It seems as though only .liquid templates can be assigned to pages. Anyone have a fix? 

FYI this is my page.contact.json code:

Follow steps from given URL to create and use a JSON template.

NOTE : Make sure the section which you use in JSON 'type: contact-template' >> is available in your theme files
