Why can't we create blocks element in settings_schema.json ?

I work on Shopify almost every day, sometimes it would come real handy to be able to have block elements in the theme settings editor. One example would be for a Shopify PLUS store running multiple stores on multiple subdomains, with the same theme. Blocks elements would enable to nest some settings within blocks based on the shopify domain that matches {{ shop.domain }}. There are many more things it could allow. Of course there are workarounds, but I haven't seen the question asked yet.
