Developing themes with the new theme editor

Hi there,

I am currently developing a theme and would like to know how can I test the functionality of sections within the customiser/theme editor for pages such as the home page or custom pages whilst the UI is still being developed?

For example, I'm developing the schema for a new section on a custom page and i'd like to see this reflected in the customiser/theme editor as I need to make sure this functionality works so that my client will be able to make changes to the theme themselves using the UI.

Is there a way I can access the current customiser/theme editor whilst working on a development store?

Hi there @lucycasey 

The new Online Store Editor, which enables sections on product pages, and other system pages is currently still in beta and can only be tested on development stores which have the Online Store Design Experience developer preview enabled. These stores are for testing purposes only however, and cannot be transferred to clients. 

In this situation, you could add this section as a static section to a specific custom page, and your client will be able to access and customize the sections settings from the regular customiser/theme editor. Since the UI is still in development, and subject to change, I wouldn't advise using a developer preview store to any client work.
