Filtering by Metafields

I was trying to create a shopify filter using metafield. I initially created a metafield with key space and name gogo & design and created some products.Now to test if the url is working or not I directly edited the url(url format attached below) as per documentation but it is not working. Can you please help me with what am I doing wrong? Am I missing some steps?

https://mystore.myshopify.com/collections/test?filter.p.m.gogo.design=usa

It will only work if you add the option Under the Navigation > Filter option 🙂
