Kingdom Theme using product tags for conversational filter collection

I've recently been playing around with the OS2.0 version of the Kingdom Theme.
While it seems like there are some great features that will be useful, I'm currently trying to work out a way to update a conversational search widget I built for collection pages.
Basically it's a form that uses a combination of tags to create the url on the button click then displays the matching products.
The tags were a bit of a pain to get right, but was working perfectly and as mostly liquid was super simple.
Another benefit being users could select as few or many of the dropdowns as they liked, it just suggested fewer bags the more specific they got : )
With the updates with OS2.0 it seems this approach will no longer work : (
So I'm looking to see if there is a way to create the same functionality (helping customers make a number of selections to filter a collection)?
I'm suspecting this will require custom coding (if it's even possible) that would be well out of my expertise, but I do have the budget to get it working (within reasonable bounds) if this is the only way forward.
Hopefully there is a way to do this that will allow me to use OS2.0 etc.
