can anyone advise how to do this with e desk
At this time we do not have a link or our own setup that can allow your customers to open a chat separately to the widget. However, i believe this can be created on your side using the HTML code that you have for the widget and customizing your website to allow the widget to be opened via a custom link. This would require help from a web developer as we do not offer support for such instances.
