Looking to learn more about this feature

Man, I don't know if it's just me, but reading through the new docs, I'm totally confused about how this new setup works.  Obviously, it's day #1, so I'm not too worried about it, but I hope you guys are maybe preparing some walkthrough videos or something.  I made a new dev store to try things out, but it all looks the same.  Maybe an example theme we could download to see it in practice would help.  

Anyway, thanks for the updates.  I hope they are good.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi there Boots, Liam here from the Partner Tools & Education team 🙂 

Great to see that you are looking to learn more about the new sections feature and how you can experiment with it yourself. Since it will be a major expansion of themes, we are exploring different options (eg: video) for educating the partner community on how to build with these new sections. So stay tuned for news on that front! 

Right now, our own internal team theme devs are just starting to build themes with the new sections paradigm, just as partners are. This means we don't yet have a sections-enabled version of a theme we can share. You can however use a developer preview store to test out the new section settings and files, before the new online store design is launched. When a store is created with the developer preview, you will find a theme with the new directory structure called "Dev Preview":

These new folders can be populated with section files and the Dev Preview theme can used to test the new sections. Since the new UI has not been launched yet, you won't be able to see the new sections on the Online Store editor, but you will be able to build sections based on new settings outlined in our help docs and Section themes REST API doc.

Hey dude, yeah the new docs can be rough. Don't worry, it's not just you! I hear they're working on walkthrough videos, which would be awesome. In the meantime, maybe try messing around in a new dev store like you did. An example theme might be cool, but for now just play around and see if you can get a feel for the new setup. Good luck!
