Newsletter error

I am using dawn theme. For newsletter if anyone sign up it shows “thanks for subscribing” however if user tries to use same email to signup again, the system shows nothing. Can anyone please help me in code that in which section i need to add code for " Already subscribed user"

In the Dawn subscription form are two cases: if no errors "successful subscription text"; if any errors "error text".
