Reserve cart products

Hi, 

I created a functionality that keeps the items in the cart for X minutes and I need to reserve these items, meaning that the product inventory quantity should change  when adding to cart and If the time expires the quantity will be updated back.

Can this be possible? And how?

I need exactly the same thing. I tried Conversion Pro Plus but it failed and they are in the process of developing a companion sales channel app to get it all working.
