Is there a way to use product tags as customer product filters in Shopify 2.0 as it did in Shopify 1.0?

Themes are not designed to merge those tow very different methods of frontend product filtering.

it's one or the other by default.

To get the two systems to work together requires very advanced theme customization, or a search app.

Tags with data that can be converted into metafield definitions for use in filters should be converted.

I'd start avoiding tags as a customer facing feature on the online-sales channel and restrict tag usage for for backend management usage.

Hello there

Yes you can use custom filter tags with the help of Shopify search & discovery app

when creating the metafield, name it for example,  size

then under every product page, you will have the option to place any content in that meta field.

once you have done that step, go into the search  & discovery, edit filters,  and add the new meta fields  filter you just created.

hope that helps!

Yes, Shopify OS 2.0 themes usually come with default Shopify filters. However, if you need to configure advanced and dynamic filters, you may need to add a filter app like this one: https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-and-filter-1. It comes with search features as well.
