A space to discuss online store customization, theme development, and Liquid templating.
We want to use tracking and I followed this part of the documentation:
https://help.shopify.com/manual/orders/status-tracking/add-conversion-tracking-to-thank-you-page#con...
As I understand it, if we send the user into shopify with a parameter attached to the landing page, which is called "ref" shopify should process this parameter and we can use it in liquify by calling the parameter {{ landing_site_ref }}
However when we call the shop with ....?ref=jpy2kjN623CU5apuDfVFoxk9TqKNcoL6gySbZiGQRHI and try to use the variable in our template it is empty.
Has someone experience with this?
Is the value not available in the product-template.liquid ?
Do you need a special version of shopify for this feature to be active?
Thank you for your help!

What helped me to solve this problem ist this reply:

I just want to add that is is really bad style for shopify to declare in their own (!) docu, which is today online, something works, which clearly doesn't and does not for a while.
It is also not promising, that their own support does neither know this docu nor that it is outdated.
That made us waste two weeks in hope of getting a qualified answer. If we would have not found this solution it would have been reason for us to not use shopify at all.
So yeay to this community and boo to the shopify documentation and support.
@kiwi1 I think the link provided in your message is not working anymore. Could you explain what you've used to solution this issue?
any update on this? We are having the same issue. landing_site_ref stays empty, regardless of going to our shop with ?ref=softwarebuddy in the URL.
same here, would be great to have a solution on this
