Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
A order was fulfilled but i was in test mode so i was wondering what should i do? will i receive the payment or should i refund it and ask for them to purchase again?
Hey,
Aria here, I'm on the Social Care team at Shopify.
If your payment gateway was in test mode when the order was placed, no money was taken from the customer. You can cancel the order if you want to but it won't matter if you do or not if it was in test mode.
It might be best to explain to your customer a real order wasn't placed.
Let me know if you have more questions.

I accidentally use my own credit card for the test purchase and now it says i have a chargeback.
How do i fix this?
Anybody have a solution?
I'm trying to cancel a test order too, that I did as I was charged the shipping and taxes on my monthly shopify invoice and now in order to cancel the order (to get my refunded the shipping and taxes) as required, I have to cancel the fulfillment BUT I don't have an option to "CANCEL FULFILLMENT". Help?!
Hi,
I accidentally forgot to turn off test mode when I lauched my store. someone tried ordering but they kept getting the message that it is in test mode. they contacted me and I turned if off and then their order went through and it says that its been paid for but on my sales section it still says that I have $0 in sales.
how do I know that its actually been paid for?
Thanks
So, in regards with this topic. I should start promoting the website, after subcribing, or else all the sale atempts will be duds?
Hey,
Aria again!
When you said you were in test mode, I was under the impression you had put your chosen payment gateway into test mode. If you are just referring to the fact your store is still in the free trial period, that is a different matter.
You can make legitimate sales during the free trial period, only if you have selected a plan and entered your credit card details. We never bill for a plan until the trial period is over so you still get full use of the free period.
If you received an order and the payment gateway was NOT in test mode, you will receive the money.
If you are unsure of any of this, we can help you. It makes it a lot easier if we can access your store to see exactly what was going on. We can only do that if we authenticate you so it's easier if you contact us by phone, chat or email. I did check the email address you use for forums to see if it is connected to a Shopify store but it doesn't look like it is. If you do want us to check out your store for you, our contact details are here.
I hope that helps!

Hi, i placed an order on my own shopify store (thankfully it happened to me and not a potential customer) and i didn't realise the payment gateway was in test mode. The full amount was debited from my account, but part of the order is not showing with 2 of my print provider but is showing with the 3rd provider and has been fulfilled.
Since it is not showing the order with the other 2 providers, should i refund and re purchase???
Hi Aria,
I may be encountering this exact issue and need some clarifications.
My Webstore went live and i transacted an item via apple pay through the shopify/stripe payment gateway. I did not realize that my payment gateway was still in test mode until the notice poped up on the order
May i confirm if the payment will be received by us?
In the timeline, it says
$ xxx will be added to your Oct 5, 2018 payout.
$xxx amount was processed on the Visa Ending XX via apple pay
Message: Transaction approved
Status: Success
Hope for some advice, Thanks!
Ben
Hi,
I have the same issue. I didn't realize that I was on Test Mode until I saw the message on the order.
In the timeline:
1. The customer used a real credit card and it gave the error message about the Test Mode. I believe this is the correct behaviour
2. Bu then in the next line item, I found out that he then used Google Pay for payment and I got the following info:
- Test - TRUE
- Card Details: Visa xxx
- Status: Success
- Type: Sale
Is this transaction successful? Did payment actually happen? Appreciate your prompt response.
