Add Custom Delivery Options - Possible ?

Hello Shopify Forum.

Working on my first Shopify Shop and liking the easiness so far.

This shop will be selling digital products which will be generated after the customer has completed his/her order.

I am wondering if it is possible to add custom delivery options to choose from during check-out ?

Since the products I will be selling are digital, there is no need for shipping or local pickup, but I would like to add custom options to choose from - fx. "Delivery To Google Drive" or "Delivery to FTP Server" and when choosing an option, text boxes for input of relevant information should appear accordingly.

Is this somehow possible if not in an app then even the hard way by hiring a Shopify Programmer for adding custom code to the shop ?

This is Summer from the Social Care team at Shopify. Welcome to Shopify Community! I'm glad to hear you find our platform user-friendly. While you're working on setting up your store, make sure to refer to our launch checklist so you can prepare your store for a successful launch.

When you sell digital products, the shipping page at the checkout will be automatically disabled as the system assumes digital products don't require shipping. This specifically happens when you uncheck the "This is a physical product" checkbox under the Shipping section of the product page, as we can see in the screenshot from a test store below.

Since this is the case, adding the different delivery methods to the checkout won't work. What you can do instead is add the delivery methods as product variants so the customer can select their preferred delivery method on the product page. This will provide a dropdown menu with the different options. If you need a guide in adding variants, we have one on this page.

If you specifically need a text box so customers can type in their delivery method of choice, a text box can be added via an app. Apps like Textbox ‑ Custom text field and Variants Option Product Option are some of the apps that can add this feature. Alternatively, a text box can also be added through coding by a Shopify Expert.

Now, usually an app, such as Digital Downloads, is used to deliver the digital product and send it to the customer via email once an order is paid. Our Digital Downloads app doesn't have the advanced functionality of sending the file through different delivery methods, however, there are other apps you can look into for this feature. You can explore the apps on this page. Otherwise, you may manually deliver the digital product directly from the different file sources.
