Adding Paypal subcription code to only one product

Hi, I have set up a subscription in my Paypal and was given a code to add this to the product. I already have Paypal express checkout linked to my website though and I do not see how to add this code for one specific product. I just want normal Paypal offered on the rest of my products - I just need to add the subscription code to that one membership product. When you add the membership to the cart and try to check out it has an error code 'Variant can only be purchased with a selling plan.' Any help would be gratefully received! 👍🏽
