Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Any news on Shopify Payments in Norway? Norwegian stores are bleeding, and I for one are currently looking at other options. Scaling is currently a nightmare for Norwegian based companies using Shopify.
Would appreciate some feedback regarding news on this.
Hi, @Darnny!
Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.
I definitely understand your frustration here as Shopify Payments is helpful for many aspects on the payment gateway side of the business. As you know, this is unavailable in your country at the moment. I will share your feedback to our development team for future considerations as a feature request. We have seen quite a few similar requests being made, so please keep an eye on the Shopify Changelog as any update will be shared here.
If you're comfortable sharing, can you provide some additional information regarding the difficulties your business has been facing when scaling? This will help provide some more context to our development team.
Thanks again for your understanding and talk soon!

Thanks for the reply.
Absolutely. The problem isn't scaling within Norway, that works well. The problem starts when you want to expand internationally, Europe, US, Asia - Since we're only allowed to charge people in NOK.
Here is a message when i try to enable different currencies from Shopify Markets:
"Shopify Payments is required to manage base currency and enable local currencies."
This makes it really hard for stores to expand. You will need to create a new store for each currency, which truly is against everything Shopify stands for.
Hi again, @Darnny!
Thank you for following up with more information.
I know it's not ideal to be limited with the full features of Shopify Markets due to your Shopify Payments eligibility. I added a note of all of the points that you brought up and shared them with our developers. With that being said, we're always looking to improve the platform by making all of our features available globally so I hope to see this feature available to your business.
Since we're unable to share any additional information to this publicly, please keep an eye out on the changelog for developments.

Hi Mac
There should be some sort of timeline, since this question/topic goes back several years, and its the same answer. "We dont have a timeline". Atleast a answer if this is not prioritized, since Norway marked is so small etc. would atleast be an answer.
We are now looking into moving over to Shopify POS for our two brick and morter shops, but without shopify payments, this is not a ideal solution
Hi, @OddRoar!
Thank you for joining this thread.
I appreciate your urgency and request for an update on this situation. I also understand how having a timeline would help with your business plans. I'm afraid I'm unable to provide a timeline on such changes. However, I can say that we are always working to expand the countries we are able to offer this in. There are many moving parts to having a country approve Shopify Payments so please continue to monitor the Shopify Changelog for updates.
Thank you!

Hi @macu! Any updates regarding Shopify Payments in Norway? This is a major blocker right now for Shopify in Norway.
If you have a Stripe account, with Easy-Pie for Shopify, you can accept payments Cards, Klarna, MobilePay, iDEAL, SEPA and many payment methods via Stripe.
It also supports multi currency. So, for example: it allows you to accept payments in EUR while your default currency is NOK, using fixed exchange rates for new markets (countries) that you will add from the Markets settings.
