Best & Free App for sending customers invoice

I suggest looking into the Order Printer Pro: Invoice app as this offers the functionality to set up your Shopify email receipts to contain a download pdf invoice link in them, using the Order Printer Pro app. You set it up once, then customers can automatically download their invoices for every order. In addition, they are currently offering a free plan for stores with less than 50 orders a month!

Hi Mac, 

Thanks for your reply. 

I was seeking an invoice app for 2 reasons:

1) because I need a way to bulk download all the invoices I send to customers for my yearly accounting.

2) because the order confirmation misses additional details that are legally required in Germany. 

• Invoice Date
• A small legal phrase at the end of the invoice. 

Am I able to do both of those things with the order confirmation, maybe I just don't know it well enough. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for following up with that additional information.

I'd like to let you know that you could add some HTML to your order confirmation email that could potentially solve your invoice date and legal phrase inquiries. In order to make these changes, you will need to head over to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Notifications and then click on the Order Confirmation email. From there, you can simply type the legal phrase in a line of the code and it will appear on the email. You could hit the preview button to ensure it is pasted in the desired spot. 

In order to add the invoice date, you will need to add this line of code: 

Order Placed on: {{ created_at | date: "%m-%d-%Y" }}

Please keep in mind that it wouldn't show in the email preview in the admin section, as this would not be a real order.

In terms of accounting, have you checked out the Shopify Analytics section? This tool will allow you to export key information regarding sales for your store. Let me know what you think and we can continue our conversation further!

Thanks for that, the code was helpful. And would solve the first problem.

However is there a way to download an order confirmation as a pdf? because for my book keeping I would need a copy of each order confirmation which is essentially the invoice in this case.

I couldn't see this as an option in the report section of analytics.

Focusing on your bookkeeping needs, the best way to do that is by downloading an Order Invoice app like Order Printer. Not only does this app let you completely customize your order invoices, packing slips, or anything else you want to create, it also gives you the option to bulk print orders.

Once you have the app installed, you can download invoices directly from your Orders page by bulk selecting them, clicking on more actions, and printing them with Order Printer.
