Billed monthly instead of upfront

Hi, 

So I took a three year plan with shopify because it was said it was 21.99$/month and then they immediately billed me 900$ upfront. Does anybody know why it would do that instead of monthly payment? Or how to take the monthly payment option for 3 years?

Generally, if the yearly plans are paid upfront, merchants received a discount. For plans that are billed monthly, there are no discounts that I am aware of.
Here's the answer from the pricing section:

... we offer a 10% discount on annual plans and a 20% discount on biennial plans, when they are paid upfront.

However, you can try sending an email to Shopify's Merchant support with your inquiry so that they could look into your billing account.

Nick_Marketing is correct that there is a discount on annual plans, but the entire amount must be paid upfront in order to qualify for the reduced price. There are not any discounts on monthly subscription plans.


Please also note that according to the Shopify Terms of Service, subscription charges are non refundable. However, we are also aware that unusual circumstances and misunderstandings can arise from time to time; Therefore, if you have just recently chosen the triennial plan and would prefer to move onto a monthly plan instead, please contact us via email, live chat or phone callback at your earliest convenience. We’ll be happy to send your request into the Billing department to see if they are able to help.
