Shopify requires me to upoload a business "registration document"...

What would that be here in the UK?

[we are a Ltd. company]

Thanks

This is an accepted solution.

I spent ages on live chat and they cam back with this:

VAT Registration
Certificate of Incorporation
Companies House Document
HM Revenue and Customs: VAT Certificate
HM Revenue and Customs: Account Statement
Charity Commission Document
OSCR Scottish Charity Regulator

Any ONE of those apparently

We've also had the same message. I resolved by accessing Shopify Chat and it turned out to be photo ID document that was required.  I uploaded a copy of my passport (presume drivers licence would also suffice) and this is now resolved.  It would have helped if it was clearer on the initial message what type of document was required as I went through several with no success until speaking to Shopify Chat.  Hope this helps.

Hello. I too have this problem ! It is so frustrating. I have uploaded my passport which has been accepted. However, the Business Registration Document is not something that exists in UK. I have tried uploaded the business Incorporation document from Companies House. This has been rejected, I believe because the address at time of incorporation is not the same today. Duh ?!  What on earth are Shopify doing asking UK businesses to upload documents that are not relevant to UK ...you would think they would identify which documents are required to which country, before sending us all on a goose chase !!!!

We ended up with the same issue after I thought it was sorted and Shopify payments are still on hold.  I went through the live chat then received emails directly from a support advisor.  I went mad with them last night and they have now escalated this for verification.  It turned out no further documents were actually required.  You can upload a utility bill as proof of address if this helps.  I'd suggest going on chat and raising a ticket or you could be waiting weeks and in this economic climate few of us have can stand such a disruption to cash flow.  I completely agree that they should be clear which documents are required and I totally disagree in them with-holding payments while they verify.

Thank you. That is really helpful to hear. I tried chat and it is a 40minute wait so I sent an email instead (48 hour wait)

I'll try uploading a bank statement in the meantime. This is such a frustrating waste of valuable time -your help is hugely appreciated !

Good luck - they escalated my case too and 10 days later we are still nowhere. I keep uploading things (vat reg, my tax return!) and still nothing. They have no clue what they’re doing I’m afraid. And in the middle of a pandemic when we are all struggling. Shameful.

Same here except i cant even upload anything. I can attach a file but there is no button to submit. I’m not vat registered so don’t even have that to submit. Not sure what they want or how to do this.

I thought this was all sorted and then boom, documentation rejected. It's difficult as I run the account, it's in my name but it's for the business I work for, not my business. No one owns the business and all the utilities bills are in the business name, not an individual... I have re-emailed and threatened to close our account. I don't think for a minute that this will work.

Emmalay I’ve sent an email to Shopify and attached whatever vague items I have. I’m not even sure that we need to do all this because until there is a deal or no deal so much is uncertain. Stopping us trade now when we are still in transition makes no sense.

Any updates on this? I am a sole trader/registered as self employed and they want documents for my business? I don't have Company house certificate or VAT number so I have no idea what to submit

I ended up sending them last year’s tax return which had my tax ID number on it. This matched the tax ID number on my shopify account so that was good enough. They also wanted proof of address etc.

Did you this get sorted ?  I am in the same position and dont know what to do,  I have been asked

Acceptable Proof of business association documents include:

  • Business license
  • Business registration documents (with company number) or business tax filing record

for I don't have these documents. I don't need them to work in the UK as a sole trader, non vat registered, freelance. I fill out self employment tax form.

I am not sure what the problem is with a passport and utility bill with my address

In the business world, we can meet both beauties and weights. When I talk about hardship now, I mean scammers who meet them at every step, and you have to be very careful not to fall into their traps. This can be both physical meetings, but also by mail or SMS. What I mean is not to believe in all this nonsense but to work with insured companies. By the way, if you're at the beginning of construction, you'll be able to propose you Pete Suen's scaffolding company. I had the opportunity to use their services, and I liked it. I can gladly recommend it.

Goal metrics let you clearly define how a goal will be measured. For example, I work in sales, so my team's performance is estimated based on the number of leads they get or the revenue amount. My IT team from https://sphereit.uk helps me with that. They taught me that sales revenue is calculated by summing up all the income from client purchases, minus the cost associated with returned or undeliverable products. Then, they made it grow by expanding your marketing endeavors, hiring new salespeople, or making discount offers that are hard to resist. The team also calculates my monthly revenue and reduces all the sales expenses.

I submitted my VAT reg and they don’t seem to know what it is - they mistook it for my tax ID. Because the numbers are different they think I’ve made an error. I’ve been back and forth with them for 2 weeks now. Endless emails. Nightnare.

Maybe I have a little outdated thinking, but what is the point of registering your business online? Like lol. You can inadvertently make a mistake and the business is no longer called "Mitler Corp.", but "Hitler Corp.". Well, this is so, for example. One of my friends had the surname "Mitler", so I remembered this example. But not the point. As for me, it is better to register in life in special bodies. At least that's what I did and I'm happy. I was advised to do so here : https://innovation-park.eu / . I absolutely trust this site. he hasn't let me down yet! Thanks to them, I have my business!
