Calculated shipping doesn't factor in quantities greater than 1?

Hello,

I'm trying to set up calculated shipping rates. I cannot figure out how to set it up so that when a customer buys more than one item (of the same product) the size and weight of the package adjusts accordingly.

Example

1 x product

package size = 19 x 14 x 2cm

package weight = 150g

2 x product = 19 x 14 x 4cm

package weight = 300g

I can set this up for fixed rates, but for calculated i cannot work this out, can anyone help please!

Did you ever figure this out?

Have you had to use an app?

I spoke to Shopify customer service, they told me there is no native functionality for what I need. The only way is to use an app, which requires a monthly subscription AND you have to upgrade the Shopify plan. I think Shopify have dropped the ball on this one big time. Basically without paying a crazy amount you can't use calculated shipping rates in my opinion.

It's such a simple thing to impliment:
cost to ship one product = A

Cost to ship each additional product = B

total cost = A + (XB)

It's really thrown a spanner in the works.

I spoke to support too and although the chap was very helpful, after looking at a potential solution, I discovered that it wouldn't work because I'd effectively be undercharging if the customer ordered one product or overcharging if they ordered more than one.

So, I'm still stumped.

All I want is to be able to input an "each additional item" charge so that it will add up the shipping charges at check-out (like on Etsy).
