Can a product have two different carts for customer convenience?

I was wondering if it was possible to make a product have 2 different carts, in my case I want to have one that is called hold which would allow the customer to hold on to the item when they want to be shipped. This is because some customers order many times and want to build a large shipment before they want to be shipped.

This can be done via custom APP, but will be tricky to implement.
