Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi. I have an online store and the customer would like to split the purchase on 2 credit cards since it is a large $ amount. Can that be done? If so, how?

My apologies, @adriennew
I misread your original post and thought it was your Shopify bill! The invoice work around you mentioned will absolutely do the job for your customer. Simply create the two draft orders with order notes and have the customer pay each separately. Great thinking!
Hi, @adriennew
Thanks for posting to the Community, I hope you're well.
While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, it's not possible to split your payment. If you have a billing limit on your credit card, I recommend reaching out to your bank to have that temporarily increased to allow you to make the payment.
Best of luck, and thank you for understanding.
Hi Skye,
Thank you. I have split in two invoices as a deposit and linked in the notes the two before as a work around but thought there may be a way to handle this in your system.
Appreciate your response.

Hi Skye,
All good. I am the work-around queen. Sometimes they work better than others.
Thanks for your help.
Best,
Surely there’s a better way to do this? I see split payments as an options for POS systems, but I can’t find a similar functionality for the online store. The two orders thing is manageable, but very awkward and doesn’t look great to a customer. Am I just missing the method by which it can be done that isn’t this…uh, inventive?
I second this. I had a customer with a $10,000.00 per day credit limit on his card. He wanted to pay the balance of the order with another card and couldn't find a way to do so. It is already built into the POS system so it should be available on the online sector as well.
This is such a shame. Unbelievable but true. You can split the fulfillment of an order, but you cannot split the payments to match the fulfillment. Just another let down by Shopify.
Of course they would never listen to what customers want.
