Can I change the name on my payment account to verify it?

hey so I rushed into setting up my Shopify payment account under my name and I'm not 18 but my older brother is so I cant verify my account and my payments are on hold because I cant change. Is there anyway I can change it so I can verify and change it to my brother.

Thanks for reaching out here, and welcome to the Shopify Community.

I understand that you are under the age of 18, which as you can see here on our Terms of Service page is the minimum required age to be an Account Owner on Shopify. I'd be happy to advise on this!

Our banking partners require all Shopify Payments merchants to be at least 18 years of age. By the sounds of it, your Shopify Payments account might be on hold because you are unable to verify it, as you do not have the required documents in your own name. However without account access here on the Shopify Community, I cannot say for sure.

What I would suggest doing here, is reaching out to our support team using this link. One of our support advisors can help you get the Shopify Payments account changed over to your brother if that is what you would like to do. You can also transfer store ownership to him for the moment, and once you reach 18 you can have it transferred back to yourself. In the meantime, you can add yourself as a Staff Member and have almost full access to the entire store in order to handle the day to day running of the business.
