Can I safely store customer credit card info for frequent purchases?

I have a customer who purchases frequently (in person POS) and would like to store her credit card in the system so that she doesn't have to give it to me each time to swipe. I know back when I was using Square for another site, it would store that info (encrypted) which made it super easy.
