Can I switch from an annual to monthly plan and get refunded?

Hello

 

I recently started my first store back in October with my first billing date for my Shopify plan and have mistakenly realised that I signed up for annual payments in place of monthly.

 

My billing date was 22/10/2021 - unfortunately I wanted to arrange for this to be monthly.

 

Is it possible I can refund the unused months and revert to the inital monthly subscription?

Hi @Dan-H!

So you wish to be refunded the annual plan, and return to a 30 day rolling plan is that correct? We do have a 30 day grace period in which you can be refunded the annual plan, after this period it is likely not going to be possible. The easiest way to know for sure will be to reach out to our live support team, who can then submit a refund request to the billing team. The final decision will be up them, so I do want to set the expectation that it may not be possible in this case.

Our live support via phone, chat or email can be reached via our support portal here. Simply type your query into the "ask about a topic" bar, then hit continue to support to access. Here's a video showing the steps in action.

The other thing to be aware of before making this change is that you will lose some benefits by moving from annual plan to monthly - You will no longer have access to our Carrier Calculated Shipping Fees feature free of charge, but this can be added to a monthly billing cycle for a fee of $20 monthly if you wish.
