Can I use an existing Stripe account for payment on a Basic Plan?

Hello -

  We are currently setting up a webstore on the Basic plan and want to use our existing Stripe account as our payment method.  I've seen so many conflicting posts if this is actually possible. Currently, when I go to the section to add payment methods, Stripe does not appear as a provider. Nor does it appear in the third-party options.  I know that Shopify Payments is essentially Stripe, but I would really like to just connect our existing account.  Is this possible?

In certain cases, merchants may be able to use Stripe instead of Shopify Payments after a review process with our escalated team. However, in countries where Shopify Payments is available, you cannot choose Stripe as your payment gateway. Are you located in a region where Shopify payments is offered? If so, then Stripe will not appear as the option for you.

Shopify Payments is the primary offering and provides several advantages, including integration with Shop Pay, no transaction fees, competitive processing rates, dedicated support, financial reports, and automated chargeback handling.
