Can not add bank account to the shopify payment

I tried to add bank account to shopify payment, but when I click the button, it always shows a pop up window : You need to set-up two-step authentication before adding a bank account.

Sign out and login again, issue still existing

But I have turned on the 2 step authentication already. any solutions?

Hi there, @MightyAirTools.

Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for sharing your question.

Providing a bit more context, to use Shopify Payments to accept payments, it requires you to activate two-step authentication. Two-step authentication helps prevent security breaches that can lead to misdirected payouts and other financial losses. Without two-step authentication activated, your account will be less secure and your payouts might be placed on hold.

Could you retry these steps once you've cleared your cache and cookies, or using a different browser?

I tried Brave browser to try and it didnt work, and then switch to firefox, issue still exiting after clear browsing data. Sorry I forgot to mention the two step authentication have been activated in my store. But I still can not add bank account with a pop up window : You need to set-up two-step authentication before adding a bank account.

I am in the early stage, now is around 12 hours. This is a brand new store.
Thinking if I can use strip as a alternative payment method.

Another issue is we even don't know who can talk to administrate shopify.

I have the exact same issue now for 3 days also contacted the customer support and they first said they were manually gonna add my bank account to my shop but now the keep asking me to try it and it still doesnt work. They also asked me to remove 2 step / other browser etc etc for it feels like they don't know how to resolve and just type something back to buy time.. i hope there is gonna be a fix soon..

I just had this issue fixed after 5 mins on the chat support via this link - https://help.shopify.com/en/support/topic-select?shopDomain=31d078-ca.myshopify.com

I selected the 'Money' tab & 'Spotify payments'.... Where I submit this message.
"

Hi,
I am hoping to go live with my store, however I have run into a Bug/glitch within the 'payments' section when trying to add my bank card, which is the final task before I can do so.

I started the "shopify payments" section and included my drivers license for verification, but before I can add my bank card It says I must enable 'Two step authentification' which I have completed and upon login I use the required app to do so and in the 'Security' section it also says enabled.

The problem arising is that in the payments section itself, it keeps asking me to set up "2FA" when it's already enabled and keeps taking me to login again and again. Therefore I am unable to move past the prompt to setup "two step" and it seems to be a bug, meaning I can't add a bank card to then move onto opening my store.

I understand from searching the community forum that this is happening to others and quite a slow frustrating issue for those like myself who are eager to move forwards with this process."

A chat started and Josie said they are aware of issue and have a workaround.
The Chat opened and Josie did something on the backend after confirming there was a Lock icon next to my name in the 'Users & Permissions' tab.

I went back to payments when she told me to, and I was then able to put my bank card details in and complete setup 🙂

I suggest everything above and it will be sorted quick.

@stubbornheart reply must have said the right words. As I reached out to the assistance team two times before this. I reached out a 3rd time phrasing things just as @stubbornheart did and I got a solution. There appears to be a work around the "banking team" can instruct your advisor to do. I guess it has to go the the banking team for that go around. quoting the advisor: "Our developer is aware with this issue that's why they built some workarounds to do this. There are just some merchants that is having this kind of bug but not all. Nothing to worry they are doing their best so that this won't happen to anyone again even without doing the workaround. But for now I'm happy that I was able to follow the steps perfectly and assist you with your payment method!" further more: "Apparently the workarounds can only work here on our end since it was internal. But if ever there are some same issues happening with their store they can contact us, and we will do our best to help them. And nothing to worry even this is also on our feedback, I will still raise this one up for future references." I hope this additional information helps your advisor solve the issue faster or with less attempts in contacting them.

......I think @stubbornheart mentioning "The Chat opened and Josie did something on the backend after confirming there was a Lock icon next to my name in the 'Users & Permissions' tab." got this issue figured out on my end.
