Can't process international payments: Any solutions or workarounds?

We're in the US and occasionally sell our products to international customers, but we don't have standard international shipping rates set up in Shopify. In these cases, we simply create the order ourselves and email a custom invoice for payment by credit card. This has not been a problem until recently, I believe due to the launch of Shopify Markets. Has anyone else run into this issue? Are there any workarounds?

It seems that, regardless of how you create your invoices, all customers are directed to the Shopify Checkout process. This process is governed by your pre-set shipping and market settings.

For example, if your shipping and market settings currently exclude a particular country, unfortunately, customers from that excluded location will not be able to proceed with checkout. This could lead to a lost sale, not to mention a frustrated customer who may have had a keen interest in your products.

To ensure that you're not unintentionally limiting your customer base, I strongly recommend taking a moment to review and update your settings, if necessary. Make sure that all the countries you aim to serve are included in your shipping and market settings.

Here's a quick guide on how you can do this:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to 'Settings'.
  2. Click on 'Shipping and delivery'.
  3. Next, click on 'Manage rates'.
  4. Here, you can add or remove countries/regions as per your business needs.

Thanks for the reply. This was never a problem until very recently.

If we don't have standard shipping charges for a particular country, how do
we activate that country in Markets?
