Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
We will be moving some of our online orders with our own trucks and shipping rates, but our business, at this point, only warrants Shopify Basic.
Can I still get this functionality separate without paying for Shopify Plus?
Hi there @TylerP3358!
There are a couple of ways you can add this to your regular Shopify plan, which would not require a Shopify Plus contract.
This can be added as a standalone top-up for $20 USD/month or can be added for free if you choose to pay your plan annually, rather than monthly.
If you're happy to add it in either of those ways, just reach out via our Help Centre here where we can securely provide account support.
Can you tell me a bit more about how you would be using the carrier-calculated rates add-on so we can check to see if this is the best fit for your business needs?

Hey Don,
Perfect! This helps out a ton and thanks for digging deeper. Let me elaborate a little more on our situation.
The parent company of this eCommerce venture is an asset-based logistics company. Basically, that means we have our own warehouse/fulfillment operation, fleet of trucks (42 and counting), and a Freight Brokerage. Logistics is what we do professionally.
This new venture will involve shipping nothing smaller than pallet, and may even get to the point where we are selling full truckloads nationally. The parameters are fairly simple - if the order is between 1-11 pallets and within a 75 mile radius of our warehouse, we would run it on our own assets (box trucks with lift gates - commercial or residential). If the order contains more than 12 pallets and falls within a 250 mile radius of our warehouse, we would run all of those too (day cab semis - only if they have a dock or a way to unload). Anything outside of that will be handled either by our freight brokerage, negotiated rates through either a big broker (CH Robinson) or through the major LTL carriers themselves.
As far as the calculated rates regarding our OWN trucks, I can easily build a private app and feed a the rates from an API endpoint to Shopify. For the most part, I have already built this internally. I also know there are some really cool Shopify apps that basically do this same thing, so I may go that route too.
What do you think?
Hi again @TylerP3358!
Thanks for getting back to me here and for sharing such a detailed and extensive account of your requirements in this regard.
I don't believe there is much I can teach you in terms of this functionality as you seem to have a very good idea of what you're looking to be able to do, so I'll just share some info on how you can add this and how to go about it.
As mentioned previously, we can add this to your account as a standalone add-on (for an extra $20 USD/month) or it can be added for free to your regular paid Shopify plan if you choose to purchase an annual (or greater) subscription.
This is in addition to the 10% you'd be discounted for paying your plan annually rather than monthly.
When you're happy to proceed you can move your store to an annual plan if that's the route you want to choose and then get in touch via our Help Centre where we can add this for free or as a paid add-on (for non-annual plans).
Best of luck with everything and let us know whenever we can be of assistance!
