Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi Shopify Team,
is it possible yet to change the order of payment options?
Would be great to be able to change that on /admin/settings/payments but I cannot find it there nor anywhere else.
Kind regards,
P
Hi there @PhilFancy! Thank you for posting your question. I'm happy to share some information on this.
It's still not currently possible to change the order of your payment options. The checkout can't be edited beyond the customizations listed in this guide. The exception to this are stores on the Shopify Plus subscription. The main reasons behind not being able to edit the checkout more than what's mentioned in that guide are security, responsiveness, and maintaining PCI compliance.
That being said, I can definitely pass this request on to our development team who look into improvements we can make to the platform. We're always looking for ways to improve and the more feedback we get, the more we can do that. Do you mind if I ask why you would like this feature and which payment options you currently offer customers?
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Erin;
Currently we are using 2 payment provider namely Cashfree payments and Razorpay payment.
We want to prioritise Razorpay and want to display it as default payment option.
But no such option is there; for the time being i have uninstalled cashfree payment so that razorpay can be default.
But to be on safer size; we want atleast 2 payment gateways incase our customer need more option. So can you help us with the order of payment gateways.
Order should be 1. Razorpay; 2. Cashfree payments.
Hope you can help us out.
Hi @Gifty. I'm happy to look into this with you! Can you tell me more about why you want to prioritize Razorpay as the default payment method? The reason I ask is just to make sure I'm giving you the best advice for your situation.
The ability to reorder payment gateways depends on the plan you're currently using. At the moment, this is only available to merchants on the Shopify Plus plan. If you're using this plan, it can be done by following these steps.
That being said, it isn't currently possible to do this using our other plans since the checkout can't be edited, beyond the customizations explained here, with those plans. The main reasons behind not being able to edit the checkout are security, responsiveness, and maintaining PCI compliance. Having customized checkouts makes it difficult for us to roll out updates & improvements, as we would have to make the changes on a store-by-store basis if checkouts were customized. Ultimately these systems are in place to make the platform more secure for you.
I'm happy to share any feedback you have about this with our development team who look into improvements we can make. This is a request I see often and I can definitely see the benefit of having this feature.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hello ALL,
It is possible now using APP available on Shopify store. I have already explained the same scenario on my recent post here: https://community.shopify.com/c/payments-shipping-and/reorder-payment-methods/m-p/2054818#M72623
Another app worth trying is https://apps.shopify.com/checkout-rules
which also lets you reorder payment methods, but for free (although it does have a paid tier if you're doing any extra customization).
I am using this now. Although I think it is ridiculous we are not able to arrange the order via the checkout liquid template. It isn't much of an ask!
Hi! We have used this plug-in https://apps.shopify.com/hidepay?locale=es and it works for ordering payments. Hope it helps!
