Can you add a local pickup option for manual orders?

Is it possible to have this option added when inputting manual orders?  I have Lots of local customers and its easier to type in a manual order than to make just one new product.  Thank you

Hi @mkd411. Thank you for your reply! Does local pick up appear as an option when customers go through your checkout using your online store (not using draft orders)?

 

On desktop you can send customers checkout links by clicking the Send invoice button in the draft order. You can also find the steps explained in this guide on checkout links. To clarify, do you send your customers checkout links and have them complete their payments online? Or do you complete their payments within your Shopify Admin using the draft order Collect payment button?

If you have set up local pickup following this guide and you are sending your customers their invoices for draft orders following this guide, the local pick up option should be showing up for those customers at checkout. If local pickup is still not appearing there are a few troubleshooting steps we can try to fix this:

  • Disable and re-enable the setting, This location offers pickup, for all of your locations that offer local pick up. To do this go to Settings > Shipping and delivery and click your location name under the Local Pickup area. Then uncheck the box that says This location offers pickup and save the changes. Once you've done this, check the box again and click Save again.

  • Double check that you've disabled any pickup apps that were active on your store. You can check this by clicking Apps in your Shopify Admin.
  • Double check that your products are available at your pickup location. You can read more about assigning inventory to locations on this page.
  • Double check that your products are set up as physical products. You can check this by ensuring your products have the setting This is a physical product enabled.

At the moment local pickup will not show up as a shipping option when you are creating the Draft Order in your Shopify Admin. However, it will be an option for customers when they go through the checkout. If you share a checkout link with your customers to complete their payment for the draft order, they should see the local pickup option. You can read more about sharing checkout links with your customers on this page.

 

Can you tell me more about the steps you take to create and complete your manual orders? Do you use your online store as well? Also, have you already set up local pick up following these steps?

Hi, Im able to link when I do a draft on my mobile but it there is no option for local pick up and I do have it set up at checkout. What am I missing?   Also, speaking of links, when creating a draft order via desktop how do I find the checkout link for the customer? Thank you

We have a lot of call-in customers during the Holidays. Some are just older/not tech savvy, some have multiple orders and it's easier for our staff to create the manual order. We desperately need the local pick-up available in the draft orders section. Not all of my customers will be able or willing to check an email to finish the checkout process themselves.

At the moment, it's still not possible to pre-select local pickup on draft orders. I understand that it's not ideal for customers to have to complete their orders on their own with the invoice link, but that is currently the best way to get local pickup selected for draft orders. I'm happy to pass along all of this feedback to our team who reviews improvements we can make. I can definitely see the benefit of this feature.

Thank you for the info. This is helpful to know. 

I also process the majority of orders as a manual "draft" order first and then process payments manually via COD. 

Being able to preselect Local Delivery or Local Pickup in the draft order screen would be amazing. I know that if I sent the invoice to the customer to pay, they can choose shipping and pickup options, but most of our customers are not that tech aware and just want us to deliver the product or prepare it for pickup so it's a step that is difficult for us. 

100 votes for adding this function to the manual order creation screen on the admin side.

I also need an option for local delivery and local pick up in Shopify Admin. The workaround provided by the help team is more time consuming and not perfect.  They told me to create a customer account called Order Admin and use that account to create an order. Choose local delivery or local pick up. Then change the customer in Shopify Admin. 1. Changing the customer only changes the basic customer name. I still have to choose a shipping address and manually enter the customer's email and phone number. It does not change the billing address. That stays as my address for Order Admin. 2. Choosing local delivery does not allow me to edit the order in Shopify Admin. This is something I need to do because everything I do is custom and has custom descriptions and pricing. I have contacted support twice to try and get them to enable the local delivery and local pick up options in Shopify Admin to no avail. I have submitted a request to Shopify Experts and no one has come back saying they can enable these features. 99% of my orders need to be custom items with custom pricing and local delivery or local pick up. My customers are misled when they look at the Order Status page because the physical items never show delivered. They say Your order is confirmed (indefinitely). It's very frustrating.
