Can you partially pick up a local pick-up order?

Hello Shopify Discussion Boards, 

 

I know there are a few posts about this already but I just wanted to ask if anyone has found a solution to partially picking up an order that is specifically for local pick-up (As of September 2022?).  I know we can do this for orders being shipped out, but as a small business with customers who live local we find most of them choose local-pickup at checkout. With the result of the pandemic a lot of our suppliers are still suffering from backordering issues, so customers have been inquiring about the option to place an order for items expected in "that week or so", along with other items we have in stock and pick-up both on separate visits (like I said most of our customers live relatively close). We just do not want to have orders outstanding for long periods of time, or orders being fulfilled by one staff member with an item that we have not gave out yet and then missed by another when it comes in  as we have multiple staff fulfilling web orders from different locations. Also, if we fulfill items that are out of stock we run this risk of putting our inventory in the negatives!

 

We are open to apps as well if anyone has any suggestions;

Rio here from the Shopify Social Care team. 

 

This is a known limitation at the moment. Merchants aren't able to partially fulfill a local pickup order. All the products will be fulfilled when marked as picked up.

 

We appreciate you sharing your use case with us. I'll be sure to share it with the appropriate team.

 

I would suggest asking the developers who specialize in pickup apps to see if their app has a partial pickup feature. I've listed 3 apps for you below you can reach out to:

If you aren't able to find a solution with the app developers we can look into a workaround by duplicating orders, or using draft orders. However, this can cause inventory tracking issues and extra steps so ideally we'd want to avoid that.

We need this desperately. In the same boat. We have several items ready from a few orders and can't send pick up notices to customers via Shopify. We are manually doing this outside of Shopify and have no way of tracking in the system what has been picked up and what is still outstanding. Big oversight /miss with fulfillment option.
