Chargeback question 🤔

Chargeback question 🤔

Hello all, about a month and a half ago I had a customer who disputed the charge, stating she never received the item, leading to a chargeback.  I had all of my evidence, submitted it then waited.  Well, I received an email 2 days ago stating that the customer's bank sided with me, so I won...yay. Here's my question, the amount is showing in my Shopify balance but it is saying that my "Payout Status Pending" and it's been a few days now. I've never had any issues with payouts, they're usually super quick, sometimes I'll receive the payment in my bank account that same evening and definitely by the next day. Is this something I need to worry about, does anyone have experience with this? How long does it normally take to receive it in your bank account? Thanks in advance for any help. Have a great day!!!

@Likividesigns it’s great to hear that you won the chargeback! The "Payout Status Pending" notice in your Shopify balance is not uncommon after a chargeback resolution. It can take a few extra days for the payout to process, especially after a dispute. Typically, payouts are quick, but in cases like this, it might take a bit longer—usually up to 5 business days. If it remains pending beyond this, I recommend reaching out to Shopify Support to ensure there are no issues. No need to worry just yet, though! Have a great day!

@Likividesigns This is great news, we are now dealing with the same, but unfortunately the "bank" rejected everything in favour of the customer (fraudster). May I ask how you documented the evidence or what is a good thing to do? I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you. Alena

I usually give my personal cell number or email address to my customers so
they can contact me directly if there are any issues, not sure if it's the
smartest idea in the world. This has proven beneficial a few times. You'd
be surprised how not smart some "fraudsters" are. It's crazy, they'll send
a message saying how much they love the item, then pull a charge back. They
aren't always so IQ challenged though. All I can say is keep everything
related to the purchase. As soon as they notify you of the charge back,
send them everything, even stuff you may think that they aren't interested
in. Just try to make an electronic trail that is. as large as possible. You
probably won't meet a seller that has won them all, as unfortunate and
unfair as it is, but a Google search will give you more tips on how to
avoid and/or win these royal pains in the butt. Good luck in the future!!
