Hi all!

I need some infos understanding the Coinbase Commerce integration.

I have a status "Active" in the settings for this service but no buttons or such is displayed on the front end

Have you got any ideas about it?

Thank you very much

Hi, @RE49.

This is expected behaviour, as Shopify will only show branded buy now buttons for selected third-party accelerated checkout methods like Shop Pay and PayPal, amongst a few others. You can find more information about these buttons, more commonly known as accelerated checkouts and dynamic checkout buttons, on our help guide here, as well as this one here.

I checked Coinbase's website and it looks like they provide instructions for adding payment buttons onto websites. As you can see on their guide here though, it requires coding knowledge. If you're not comfortable with coding, you can check with the Coinbase support team on whether or not this is something that they can help with. If not, feel free to hire one of our Shopify Experts to assist you with implementing this feature on your store.

Have you also checked your store's checkout page, to make sure that Coinbase is showing up as an alternative payment method? If the integration is showing up as active on your admin, it should also appear as a checkout option on your store. But it's always a good idea to check and, if the gateway allows it, do a test transaction, just to make sure that everything is working as intended.

Testing your checkout prior to customer usage will ensure that your customers experience a smooth checkout process on your store, and it's also one of the most pivotal moments in a customer's journey. Because of this, it definitely pays to take a closer look at the add to cart and checkout process on your store, to make this process as easy as possible for your customers. To further help optimise this process, feel free to take a look at our resources below:

Other than setting up Coinbase Commerce as a branded buy now button, We have installed it on our shop and it does show up as an option for payment once you get to the end, but only for me here in the U.S. - our other staff members in Singapore, the U.K. and Canada are not able to see it as an option when checking out. Is this only valid in the U.S.?

Hi, @AxionShop.

Can you confirm if you have Shopify Payments enabled on your store? If so, does your store have Shopify Markets enabled, as well as the option to sell in multiple currencies?

A current limitation of having the multiple currencies feature enabled is that only eligible payment methods per geographic area will show at checkout. This means that ineligible payment methods won't be presented as an option — so if a visitor on your website opts to browse your store in a, say, Singaporean market rather than your store's native United States market, they will only be shown the payment gateways on checkout that is supportable within the Singaporean market.

Each third-party gateway will have their own guidelines when it comes to supportable regions though, so to check if your store's Coinbase checkout is supported in other countries outside of the United States, I recommend reaching out to the Coinbase support team so that they can confirm this for you.
