Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders

Hello,
I see tons of people are very upset with the new stock statuses (committed, available, on hand). I'm not no surpirsed since it's causing chaos in my company too.
My question:
I have a product with 4 units committed to an order that was canceled. Despite the order being cancelled, the stock is still committed which doesn't make ANY sense at all.
I read on a help page that committed stock goes away once you fulfil the order but obviously I won't do that since the order is cancelled. But even if I wanted to, it won't let me because the order is cancelled and can't be edited.
THIS IS A MESS! Please help me out here. Looks like the new feature is poorly designed.
I have this same issue, did you ever find a workaround for this?
I'm having the same issue but have found a workaround.
Duplicate the product and/or variant.
The new product or variant cannot be committed to an order.
It's terrible for analytics, reports, and ads, but it's the only solution I could come up with.
