Common issues with using a Third Party Logistics provider?

Hey all! Excited to be a part of this group.

As I upsize my Third Party Logistics business to a larger warehouse, I'd like to create a plan of action for any issues that may arise ahead of time with this growth.

What are some common issues that you have experienced with your 3PL provider, and how were they solved?

Also, are there any services your current 3PL provider may present that you feel are invaluable?
I aim to provide the best customer service at my business, and all input provided in this forum is valuable. That being said, feel free to comment even if you do not use a 3PL provider.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hey there! I run a growing 3PL as well, OTW Shipping, that emphasizes customer service and great rates. Our customers main issues come from the initial Shopify integration because many of them do not have the proper app permissions set up. The integration process only takes a few minutes and we've created helpful support articles for them. However, when they have trouble we have a Slack-like channel for direct communication with our team.

This is just a previlent 2 years on from when you posed it.

Scailablilty with 3PL providers is key.  But as we (CBF Fulfilment) are finding, the potential intent of clients is huge but as with all sales channels, we need to prepare for the growth but only form a space perspective.

The online tools we use are modular, and the staff and training are all mapped and ready to expand and contract reasonably simply.

Communication with our clients makes the relationship business critical.  Especially in peak times to plan and prepare for marketing rollouts.  But most clients just 'go-live' and we have to roll with the punches.

We have strategic partnerships all over the world, sharing contracts with other 3PL providers which help deliver the international requirements for some of our clients.

I hope you're still upsizing 3PLzen?  In the UK e-commerce fulfilment and 3PL providers are having to become more specialists in the sector and not a catch-all as the client is looking for specialisms. Are you experiencing the same?

You should check out www.fulfill.com if you need a new 3PL. They help you find one for free and search through tons of 3PLs.

Thank you. I own and operate a 3PL and am familiar/friendly with the
fulfill founders. Just looking for some input on the subject from the store
owner perspective.
