Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
We are a wholesaler with several large items that cannot be easily shipped domestically/internationally. We would like to incorporate an option for the customers to contact us directly for a shipping quote before purchasing these specific items. Is there a way to integrate that into the checkout process? I was thinking to create individual shipping profiles, but that still requires me to select a 'type' of shipping, which I don't want to offer. Thanks!!
Hi @Hannahdahl ,
I know it's very late, just want to check if you still want to implement this feature.
Please explain.
Hi, @Ryan_Griff!
Thanks for joining this thread. Are you also looking for the same functionality on your checkout?
Can you let me know if you still require other products to check out normally but for the other special items a request a quote feature to be added?
Let me know what your current set up is like and what you're looking to do, and we can go from there!

I hope it is ok that I reply to this thread as I am also looking to add this option. I make concrete statues of varying sizes and cannot calculate all the possible options to ship various sizes and weights via Canada Post. I would like to offer shipping only via request for a quote at checkout. With the additional option that the customer not pay until a shipping quote has been received and agreed to. I am in the process now of removing the shipping option all together as I'm unable to set up the required shipping parameters in the settings.
Hi there, @Vinochka. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums here with your question around offering 'contact for quote' as an option in the checkout. Though there is no single button that can be hit to present this information, you're certainly able to present this information in a couple different spots of your online store, such as:
- Adding this information to your statue's product page, specifically in the product title or product description
- Create an announcement bar via your theme to let customers know to contact you directly for a quote
- Create a page for your business that includes this information
Lastly, you can use the Theme Content Editing Tool to change wording on specific spots in your store, such as your checkout, without needing to edit code! Using the document I linked and the steps outlined there, you can locate wording and content shown on your checkout page, and replace some of the wording shown there with wording of your choice! There are a lot (and I mean a lot!) of options for you to change here and replace the wording of, so I recommend taking some time to pinpoint specifically what you want to change before making the change. You can restore content to it's default wording by emptying out the content box.
Additionally, you can remove the cart/checkout buttons from your product page templates for these statues if you would like to request that customers contact you directly regarding these items. You can also remove the statue products from any of your shipping profiles to prevent them from being able to be purchased via the checkout, as they can't be shipped, but other products that you can ship will still be available to be added to carts.

Hi Imogen,
There are a number of really good options here. I will change my shipping info page, add an announcement bar, and would like to add a contact for quote option on the checkout page utilizing the theme editor. I'm having a hard time determining the location in the theme editor checkout list that would be optimal for placing this change. Can you advise?
Also, changes that I am making in the theme editor are not showing up on my checkout page.
Request you to refer the below video how you can enable Request a Quote feature in Shopify
