Custom third party payment gateway

Hello,

I would like to use a custom third party payment gateway that is not under the Shopify provided payment gateway. This service have provided me with their integration documentation like API calling, .etc.

Is it possible for me to integrate it with Shopify? Would Shopify allow it or I just can use the payment gateway provided inside the Shopify only?
