Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I was chatting with my customer and i proposed to give them a refund. He says he doesn't have that same original card anymore (that he purchased from my store). What should i do?
what difference does it make or not, the money must come from where the payment was made.
What if he stole the card details and is trying to launder the money. Or the child paid with the parents' card.
You can return the money wherever he says, but he can then complain through his bank that there was an unauthorized money write-off, then you will again have to return the money to him a second time.

So what do you suggest exactly?
In fact, shopify has an option to refund money in your orders. I propose to return the money to the card with which the payment was made.

Hi, @anthonyth.
Thank you for reaching out!
Refunds can only be issued to the card that was initially used for payment. When a Merchant issues a refund to a cancelled card we can't say for sure what the bank does with those funds, so it's always best to have the cardholder reach out to their bank before you process any refunds. Another way around this would be to offer a store credit via a gift card.
Please let me know if you have any further questions! I would love to learn more about your business. What type of products do you sell?
