Customers see my personal name and not my business name when fulfilling payment. How to change name?

When customers want to buy a product through Shopify payment > Ideal, they see my personal name and my old store name. I want mine personal name removed and only show the new name of my business. 


I saw a previous thread but it didn't work. >

I did this but nothing changed in the payment process. You still see my personal name and the old business name. Hope someone can help 🙂

Paula here from Shopify. Great question!


Usually Shopify Payments displays merchant personal name as opposed to business name when a customer pays with iDeal. Would you be able to let me know if your customers are paying with iDeal?


If you are using the embedded method iDeal in the checkout, I must let you know this is a known issue that Stripe is working on. We haven't received an update about when this will be changed. This only happens for merchants who are registered as a sole trader and has to do with how the registration process for Shopify Payments works and how the receiving bank displays the payment to their customers.


There is no workaround at the moment, except choosing a different business type or a different name when registering for Shopify Payments. If that's your case and you want to change it, you will need to deactivate and reactivate Shopify Payment account.

Deactivating & Reactivating shopify payments doesn't let me enter a new name, how can I change the name?

Hi guys, I have the same problem, somehow my personal name is showing on the bank accounts of customers. This should not happen offcourse. Please help. I have tried to deactivate and reactivate, but that does not give you the possibility to change anything...

Hi there, 


I request you to follow the following steps to resolve the stated issue : 


  1. Login to your Shopify admin panel
  2. Go to Online Store – Themes
  3. Click on Customize
  4. On the left hand side, you will see a list of sections that you can make changes to on your store
  5. Click on the Collection page option
  6. You should now be able to see a checkbox that will allow you to enable/disable Product vendor
  7. Make the changes and save them
  8. Similarly, to disable it from the Product Page, navigate to the Product page section
  9. You will again see a checkbox that will allow you to enable/disable Product vendor
  10. Make the changes and save them
  11. The Vendor name will now not appear on the Collection and Product pages on your store


I am also providing you with a link that explains you the same in detail. I followed the above process myself and I was able to remove the vendor name from my store.

@arushibhatia20 the issue is not that the vendor name is showing on the product or collection pages.

The issue is that our personal name (which we used to create our Shopify account) is showing on each bank statement to the customer. Instead of the shop name it shows our personal name. We don't want all our customers to see our personal name on their bank statement. This confuses them as they think it is not the shop but a random person they are transferring money to and it is privacy sensitive information. So please make it show our shop instead of personal name.

I'm having the same problem. Just bought something to test it and it says "you paid (my name) $23.99."

I want it to say "you paid (my business name) $23.99.

I have the same issue regarding iDEAL.

Any new information about this from Shopify? Seems like something that should have been fixed by now.

Yes this is an issue for all Dutch shopify accounts as iDeal is the payment method 99% of Dutch shoppers use. Please fix this asap as it's bad for our privacy as sellers.

Just sign up for Mollie and use Mollie for iDEAL payments. This way Shopify doesn't profit on your iDEAL payments until they fix it. 🙂
