Declining Payment.

Good day I started my Shopify journey about a week ago.

I set up PayPal as a payment provider and then I registered under Payfast as a DPO. I am fully verified by Payfast, and they set up my account so that international payments can be accepted.

When I tested the store and try to buy one of the products in my store to see the quality and shipping when I get to the payment option and choose the DPO option it gives an "ERROR: 400 Bad Request", and they say the currency format is invallid.

I have contacted Payfast and they said that everything on their side for accepting international payments is fine on my account is fine and that I should contact Shopify to resolve the problem.

Can someone please assist me.

Hi, @Urbansky!

Julie here from Shopify Support.

The ERROR: 400 Bad Request error message generally indicates a server issue, so it doesn't sound like this issue has anything to do with being unable to accept international payments. There's a good chance that the issue may have resolved itself, so have you had a chance to create another test order?

As long as your PayFast account has been properly activated and you've added your PayFast credentials in Shopify's payment settings, you should be able to accept transactions. When you created a PayFast account, did you add it in Shopify, in Settings > Payments? We have instructions on how to configure third-party payment providers that outline the process.

Also, have you confirmed that the PayFast account isn't in test mode? This setting is typically found within your PayFast account, rather than Shopify.

Are you having any similar issues processing PayPal transactions, or is the issue solely with PayFast? If you're not experiencing any issues with PayPal, then this is most likely an issue with PayFast and I would suggest reaching out to them once again.

Lastly, it would be helpful to know if you are still on your free trial, or if you have already selected a plan. In order to enable your checkout and process payments, you will need to be on a paid plan. It doesn't sound like this is the cause of your issue, but it would be great to rule this out.

Since you're still new to Shopify, I also wanted to pass along our Essential Store Launch Checklist. This checklist is an excellent resource for those who are new to the platform and will help you ensure you've completed all the steps necessary prior to launching your online store.

I hope this helps. Please keep me updated!
