Different margins for different products - can you?

Hey

I’m being told by my software developer that all the products have to have the same margin if I want the site to auto fulfill (rather than manually fulfill the orders myself).

Surely that’s not right? I have some products that could be sold at 4x cost and some that would only be 2 x cost (and even some break evens as loss leaders) but he is helping me the margin has to be the same for all products? I am selling ONLY in one country and it’s drop shipping. Is it because I am using a drop shipping third party site? Please advise - thanks

Just to be clear, are you referring to your dropshipping supplier automatically fulfilling orders using data sent to it by Shopify? Is your developer saying that Shopify is only sending order information to your dropshipping supplier depending on it's margin? Where is this margin being set - within Shopify or with the dropshipping service? As dropshipping services are third party to Shopify we won't have information around all of their specific limitations and restrictions as they'll differ depending on what supplier you're using. I recommend taking some time to reach out to the dropshipping supplier you're using to see if there's a limitation on their end that makes it so orders can only be automatically fulfilled if the order has a certain profit margin.
