Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi there,
I want to offer memberships soon on my website. The idea is to have a collection of items that only members are able to purchase, but everyone should be able to view the collection.
I think there are a couple of ways to make this work but I think Appstle Memberships has the best option by giving customers automatic tags when they purchase a membership and only members with that tag have access to the ATC button. (If anyone has better options than Appstle, please let me know!)
When I was trying to set everything up and tried to check our a membership I saw only two of the many payment methods I normally offer. Shopify customer service has told me that they only offer creditcard payment methods when it comes to memberships. Is this actually true? I'm Dutch and most of my target audience is young and located in the EU. Most of them will not own a creditcard.
Summarized: Is there a way to offer SEPA Direct Debit (or another payment method that supports direct debits from EU bank accounts) for membership checkouts?
Thanks in advance,
Odin

Hi, @Odin27.
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
It sounds like Appstle Memberships is a great option for you to try out, as it does have a fairly solid rating among merchants. If you need to get help with a third-party app, then you can always reach out to the app developer using the contact information found at the bottom of their app's page. As for the direct debits, we'd recommend taking a look at our list of online payment gateways and payment provider integrations to see if any of the providers can support this in the EU. However, if there aren't any options that support direct debit, then you can also consider setting up manual payments (eg. external debit).
If you have any other questions on this topic, then don't hesitate to let us know.

Hi Elias, Thanks for the quick reply. There are ways to offer direct debit in my store, and I already tried most of them. The only problem is that when I try to check out a membership, the only available payment methods are credit cards. And the rest disappears.
Hey, @Odin27.
Thank you for following up with the additional context.
If you're using a third-party app for the memberships, then we'd recommend contacting the app developer to see if there are any options for direct debit. However, due to the nature of memberships, it's possible that you need recurring payments - which may only be available for credit cards as opposed to debits.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

You can use Stripe powered solution to accept payments and subscriptions with SEPA Direct Debit, iDEAL and many payment methods.
