Do I need to click on fulfill to get payout?

I have some pre-orders. The customers know that they will receive the items in 3 weeks. Do I need to select fulfill to receive the payout within a few days like usual or do it when I ship the items?

In Shopify, you receive payouts only for fulfilled orders. Therefore, to receive the payout within a few days, you need to mark pre-orders as fulfilled. However, I advise you to contact the customer and explain that you marked the order as fulfilled only to receive the payout.

For pre-orders, it's generally best to wait to mark the items as fulfilled until you actually ship them. This helps avoid confusion and ensures that your customers are aware of the status of their orders.

However, you can still capture the payment for these pre-orders. Most payment gateways allow you to capture the payment at the time of the order, but leave the order in an unfulfilled state until you are ready to ship. This way, you receive the payout within the usual timeframe, but your orders remain correctly marked as unfulfilled until shipment.

If your payment provider requires marking as fulfilled for payout, check their policies or contact support.
