Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
so im using a alternative payment provider because my customers arent in the us, so im using an alternative payment provider for them, i have that all running and set up but i was wondering if i still need the shopify pay there also? i rather turn it off so it makes the checkout page look less clutered and more straight forward
Hi, @fmgmarket!
Sophia here from Shopify. The short answer is no, you do not have to use Shopify Payments if you'd like to use an alternative payment processor instead, but I'd like to offer some more detail here in case you're still weighing your options.
While it's optional, I do recommend enabling Shopify Payments if you meet the requirements, in the interest of offering customers as many choices as possible. Shopify Payments allows customers to checkout with a credit card, and you can also use it to enable accelerated checkout options like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. Although your customers aren't in the US, they should still be able to use the payment options provided by Shopify Payments. The other benefit is that Shopify Payments does not charge a transaction fee in addition to the credit card rates. You can see the breakdown per plan here.
Where are most of your customers located? Which payment methods do you find they prefer?
