Does anyone else have customers who can't figure out shipping costs?

I use one of the starter templates where customers:

1. Put an item in the cart

2. Type in their shipping address

3. The shipping costs and taxes are displayed.

5. The customer decides to purchase.

Instead, I keep getting contacted by customers wanting to know how much it would be to buy item X and ship it to their address.

Are people just not understanding how an online store works or is there something wrong with the standard Shopify checkout workflow?
