Domain Validation - Adding Apple Pay through Stripe on Shopify

Good week-end everyone,

I am looking to add Apple Pay through Stripe on Shopify but I'm stuck at the domain validation part.

The validation file as to be found on exemple.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association

How do I create this directory on my domain:
/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association

And place the "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association" file in through Shopify ?

Thank you

Hey @littlepaw,

In most cases, you'll find out Apple Pay is already set up. To check, go to Settings > Payment Providers in your admin. Click Edit next to Stripe. You should then see information that looks like this:

21-10-h6d29-engqj

If you can see the tick in the box next to the Apple Pay logo, you will know it is activated.

Keep in mind, Apple Pay will only show up on Safari and Apple devices. If your customer is using an Android device or Chrome (for example), they won't see the option to pay that way. You can find more information in this guide.

Please let me know if you are still having problems!

I know this is already over a year old but this solution isn't complete as we still need to verify our domain in the following directory "https://ourdomain.example/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association".

This step mentioned in the answer is necessary but not sufficient to enable Apple Pay and while the button to pay with Apple Pay appears, it gives an error when users attempt to checkout with Apple Pay. Some help from Shopify would be great!

@sundeepchugani,

I have come across this request before via another community post which you can read below:

It appears Apple Pay may not be live on the Stripe end although enabled on the Shopify side. This can be resolved by getting in direct contact with Stripe. I have linked their support channel below:

Hi @Obaida1,

Thanks for reaching out!

As Ollie has mentioned, I'd encourage you to connect with us directly. This will allow our support team to investigate further, as we wouldn't have access to account-specific details here through the Community. They will be able to get you authenticated and share steps on how to proceed.

I am facing the same issue, I need to use Shopify Apple Pay integration as well as Stripes Apple Pay integration, they are two separate pay systems. The solution would be for Shopify to allow us to simply load this file into the directory as Stipe directs us to but it seems like Shopify doesn't want us to do this. Please help, I need this working sooner than later.

Hi, @RiskyBiscuit.

Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for joining the thread.

Our Support Team via the Shopify Help Center would need to take a more detailed look at your account in order to further assist. This is because we are unable to access account-specific information through the community forum. To get started, you can head to the Help Center, type your question to the Help Center Assistant, and you should be presented with options to chat with a live Support Advisor.

Well problem is very simple. Shopify does not allow users to create such domain names, therefore apple pay cannot be enabled.

Its not a problem with stripe, it's the limitation of shopify.

Couple of years already passed, and still no resolution.
