Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi, is there a way/app that will stop a customer adding items that cant be shipped together?
The way our store works is for customers to pre order items. We do however also have an 'available now' collection which is products ready for immediate despatch.
I was wondering if there is a way to stop customers ordering available now items along with pre order items.
We are currently removing the available now products when our pre orders are open then add them back on when pre orders are closed.
there is a solution to this issue and it requires a shipping app - this app will allow you to block certain items from shipping combined. I friendly msg will inform the shopper that they cannot purchase both groups of items. Let's discuss the details.

Still looking for a solution for this. Surely there should be a simple enough way to do it with code if doing it by product titles? We have the wording 'available now' in the product tiltle of available now stock. So if all the products in the cart contain the words available now then you can proceed to checkout. If all the products dont contain available now then you can proceed to checkout. If cart contains products with and without available now in product title then you cannot proceed to checkout and some sort of message is displayed saying available now and pre order items cannot be purchased together.
Strange that Shopify doesn't have an inbuilt solution for this in spite of it being such a robust platform
Claire_Brennan, have you found a solution to your preorder issue? I'm noticing more and more new Preorder Apps popping up in the Shopify App Store, almost daily now. The few that I've tried haven't worked out, sadly. So I am back on the hunt again! Would love to hear your solutions!

Creating different shipping profiles for every collection of products could be a EXTREMELY time-intensive workaround, but I would think there must be a more effective way to to this?!
