Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
We sell large gift cards as Farm Card CSAs, and love the Apple Wallet integration for use at the farmers market. For our self-serve farm stand, we have a QR code that directs them to a collection that has the current inventory. This way, they can pay by CC, but also use their GCs. However, it appears that there is no easy way to use it, other than to copy and paste the GC code every time they want to use it.
Since everyone who has a GC pretty much has a Shop Pay profile, is there a way to connect them so that they don't have to copy and paste the code every time? Ideally, it would show up as a payment option.
Thanks!
Yes, it is possible to connect your customers' gift cards to their Shop Pay profiles so that they can easily use them as a payment option.
One way to do this is by using a Shopify app like Rise.ai, which offers gift card and store credit solutions. With Rise.ai, you can connect your customers' gift cards to their Shop Pay profiles, and they will be able to see their gift card balance and use it as a payment option during checkout.
Another option is to use the Shopify Gift Card API to build a custom integration that connects your gift cards to your customers' Shop Pay profiles. This option requires technical expertise, but it offers more flexibility and customization.
Either way, with a little bit of setup, you can make it easier for your customers to use their gift cards as a payment option at your self-serve farm stand.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’be already sold some GCs that are the default integrated ones, so I guess I can’t use Rise.ai?
If I wanted to develop the API route, where would I start?
If you want to develop your own API integration for gift cards, you will need to have programming knowledge or hire a developer who can help you with that.
Here are the general steps you can take to develop the API integration:
1. Define the requirements: Determine what kind of gift card functionality you want to implement, such as creating, issuing, and redeeming gift cards.
2. Choose an API: Shopify has its own Gift Card API, which you can use to manage gift cards programmatically.
3. Write the code: Use your programming skills or hire a developer to write the code that integrates with the Shopify Gift Card API. This will involve writing code that can send and receive data via API requests and responses.
4. Test the integration: Once you have written the code, test it to ensure that it works as expected. This will involve running test transactions and checking to make sure that the gift cards are being created and redeemed properly.
5. Deploy the integration: Once you are satisfied that the integration works as expected, deploy it to your Shopify store so that customers can start using the new gift card functionality.
Keep in mind that developing an API integration can be time-consuming and may require technical expertise, so it may be a good idea to work with a developer or development agency to help you with this process.
