We have had several of customers alert us to the fact that when they go to checkout, they receive the following message.

Error "Your cart has been updated and the items you added can’t be shipped to your address. Remove the items to complete your order.."

After a little bit of testing, we received the error on all major browsers, but did NOT receive the error in the Firefox Browser (all browsers are an up-to-date).  Every state that we've tested (10+), received the errors.

Hello, @TapeGuy.

Sophia here from Shopify. Welcome to the Shopify Community!

I appreciate you testing several browsers and double checking to ensure that all of them were updated to the latest version. Typically, the Your cart has been updated and the items you added can't be shipped to your address. Remove the items to complete your order. error message appears when there is a discrepancy with the shipping settings and the destination address and/or item(s) in the cart. However, since you didn't see the error in Firefox, it's possible that there is a technical issue our team can investigate further with you.

When this error message comes up, I recommend reviewing the following under Settings > Shipping:

  • which shipping profile the product/variant is in
  • the location for the shipping profile is set to fulfill online orders
  • the shipping zone includes active shipping rates that apply to the products in the cart

I understand that you may have already reviewed all of these settings. If that's the case, please get in touch with our team through the Shopify Help Center so we can take a look into the store with you and put you in touch with Technical Support if necessary.
