Brendan here from the Shopify Support team. 

Providing estimated delivery dates is possible in your store already if you're using Shopify Shipping through USPS or Canada Post. Rates delivered this way will have an estimated shipping time provided by default to the customer as shown here.

Alternately, there are apps that can deliver this information to customers such as Auto Delivery Time Estimate, Dispatch Time to create an urgency of your daily shipment schedule, or manually add time estimates right to each of your product pages, like is demonstrated in this post

The Multi Carrier Shipping label app can be used to show delivery estimates to customers for UPS, Canada Post and FedEx.

Understanding your requirement, I would like you to check out the app called Order Delivery Date Estimation. The app allows the Shopify store admin to set and configure estimated delivery date ranges for the products as well as display a personalized message widget informing about product delivery at custom positions on the product detail page. You can select multiple pages to display the product delivery message widget. Also, can configure delivery information message country wise.

Using Shopify's support for carriers, I see FedEx and Canada Post show the delivery time at the checkout, but UPS does not have an estimate.  

Is this a limitation of Shopify or UPS?

UPS claims the data is available, it's just that Shopify is not making use of it. Is this correct?

Showing delivery estimate in the product pages is not a true solution, we need the used to see the delivery time right under the shipping method at the checkout just like FedEx, etc.

 Can you tell me which shipping carrier are you using, currently?

If you want the customers to know about shipment day, date, and time after the order is placed and shipped, the Shipment tracking and notify app will give live real-time tracking updates of the order shipped with an email notification they can also track the orders in real-time to know the status of the order anytime.

In conjunction with this Shopify merchants can also have the track order look-up page on the Shopify dashboard.
